‘Flameco in Scarlet’, a red rose limited edition print

This red rose limited edition print has been reproduced from a photograph of an original oil painting by Karen Hollis.

The inspiration behind this oil painting was to get as close to the heart of the rose as I could while still being able to show how powerful the structure is. The beauty of the light catching on the edges of the petals gives it real depth. I enjoyed blending the tones to create the shapes that form this bold picture of a rose. The name Flamenco in Scarlet reflects the fact that this striking red rose reminds me of a Spanish Flamenco dancers dress.” Karen Hollis

This red rose limited edition print is a tinted version of the original painting which was a deep orange. Three other paintings were created from the ‘Just Joey’ rose using the same colour palette. See them as fine art prints – ‘Serpentine’, ‘Affection’ and ‘Curvaceous’.

Hollis specialises in bright, bold floral paintings that are flooded with light. Her pictures of flowers capture the viewer and draw them in. A statement piece for any wall.
