‘WinterGold’, white lilies as an open edition print

An open edition print reproduced to the highest standard from a photograph of an original oil painting by Karen Hollis.

“The ‘Winter’ series of paintings was inspired by material collected during a trip to Newbury, Massachusetts. The winter light in this part of North America is so bright that everything appears cleaner and crisper. The lilies were gathered together in a vase and placed outside on a table and the strength of the light created shapes out of the shadows between petals and stamens and gave a luminous quality when backlit. The choice of a predominantly azure blue background reflects both the coolness of Newbury’s winter days and the aquatic nature of its location - neighbouring both the  harbour at Newburyport and the beach at Plum Island.” Karen Hollis

Hollis specialises in bright, bold floral paintings that are flooded with light. Her pictures of flowers capture the viewer and draw them in. A statement piece for any wall.
